My wife and I were looking for a used vehicle for my 16 year old son. We visited many used car lots that had overpriced vehicles. We were told many things about the vehicles having a 160 point inspection and that the cars are being sold “as is" and that they offer no warranty once you drive it away. The 160 point inspection should be able to catch anything wrong with the vehicle is what we were told. I found a vehicle online that I hadn't called on until after a long day of car shopping. It was a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer with only 75,000 miles. We went and looked at it and Derek (I am sure I spelled it wrong) explained where he bought the vehicle, what work he had done to the vehicle and let us take it for a test drive. We asked to take it to a mechanic and have it checked out and Derek said that was not a problem and that he knew the car was safe. After negotiating a price and him accepting the condition of taking it to a mechanic, we did. After having the truck checked out it was noticed that it needed to have a thermostat replacement and we notified Derek and he told us to bring it in and he would replace it at no charge because he would stand behind his vehicle. We have had the truck for a few months now and have noticed that the rear tailgate is crooked ( doe snot align perfectly straight with the latch and will not lock). It was obviously in an accident (Derek did tell us that). He did do some body work on the vehicle (which isn't perfect but for a 16 year old driver it is alright). It seems he spray painted over some rust spots to hide that there was indeed rust in areas as it is coming through now and we can see some paint drips to confirm that was not the factory paint. Nonetheless it is what it is. It is still running with no major problems.
